School of Pharmacy

The School of Pharmacy, KIST was established to train Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants who are knowledgeable and competent enough to fill the existing gap in the Practice of Pharmacy and to meet the growing health challenges in the 21st Century. We achieve this through our flagship programs of Diploma in Pharmacy and Certificate of Pharmacy and our students are assessed by the Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB)

Our dedicated team of trained and competent academic, technical and administrative staff work tirelessly to ensure steady growth in global recognition of our School through innovative lecturing and research. Our alumni have attained gainful employment in leading public and private hospitals, community Pharmacies and NGOs such as Uganda Cares Uganda, MM Pharmacy, First Pharmacy, Friecca Pharmacy among others.

Our programs are delivered through a range of innovative approaches including lectures, PowerPoint presentations, hospital placements, tutorials sessions, laboratory compounding and industrial Placements. We have a well-equipped pharmaceutical laboratory with quality machinery.

In order to enhance learning, our students undertake routine educational tours to near-by field-based sites such as Pharmaceutical Industries, Natural product centers and Community Pharmacies under supervision of our academic staffs. This community engagement approach enables our students to appreciate the needs of local communities (community diagnosis) and to devise their solutions through active engagement and innovation.

Additionally, in order to remain up-to-date with current and emerging trends in the pharmaceutical field, we have memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with different facilities that provide a holistic pharmaceutical exposure to our students.

All our programs are fully accredited by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and are recognized by the Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC).

Thus, all prospective students, parents and guardians are invited to visit our School and learn more about our state-of-the-art facilities and programs. For those who have already been admitted and have joined (or are soon joining) the School of Pharmacy, I wish you a great time here. We make it a better place!
