Application & Requirements

Kampala Institute of Science And Technology (KIST), is a school of health sciences which was established in the year of 2013.

Being a health science institution, KIST is committed to support the students’ strengths and help them to build the capability of being innovative to find solutions to the challenging health problems as stated in our organisational goals and values.

The institution has now developed but still looks towards expanding by introducing many disciplines.

The institution is currently offering diploma and certificate courses which include the following;

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health
  • Diploma in Pharmacy
  • Diploma in Health services Management and Administration
  • Advanced Diploma in Health Leadership and Management
  • Certificate in Pharmacy
  • Certificate in Medical Laboratory Techniques.

Entry requirements for each program offered by the institution

1. Diploma in clinical medicine and community health:

This is a three (3) years course examined by the Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB) of the Ministry of Education and sports, Uganda. After completion of the course, the candidate is awarded a Diploma in clinical medicine and community health.

Entry requirements include;

  • A principal pass in biology at A –level (for Ugandans) (For direct entrants)
  • A certificate qualification in a health science course like Nursing, Laboratory or medical theatre techniques, Midwifery, or environmental health (For extensors)
2. Diploma in Pharmacy:

This also, is a three years course examined by the Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB) of the Ministry of Education and sports, Uganda. After completion of the course, the candidate is awarded a Diploma in pharmacy.

Entry requirements include;

  • A principal pass at A- level in Chemistry (For direct entrants)
  • A certificate qualification in a health science course like Nursing, Laboratory or medical theatre techniques, Midwifery, orthopaedics etc. (For extensors)
3. Diploma in health services management and administration:

Is a two years course examined by the institution (Kampala Institute of Science and Technology- KIST). After completion of this course, the candidate is awarded a Diploma in health services management and administration by the institution (KIST)

Entry requirements include;

  • A principal pass at A- Level in any subject.
4. Certificate in Medical Laboratory Techniques:

This is a two years course examined by Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB) of the Ministry of Education and sports, Uganda. After completion of the course, the candidate is awarded a certificate in medical laboratory technique.

Entry requirements

  • An O-Level certificate with at least 5 passes and MUST have passed with at least a credit in Mathematics and English
5. Certificate in pharmacy:

Is a two year course examined by Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB) of the Ministry of Education and sports, Uganda. After completion of the course, the candidate is awarded a certificate in pharmacy.

Entry requirements

  • An O-Level certificate with at least 5 passes and MUST have passed with at least a credit in Mathematics and English
6. Advanced diploma in Health Leadership and Management:

Is a one year course examined by Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board (UAHEB) of the Ministry of Education and sports, Uganda. After completion of the course, the candidate is awarded an Advanced diploma in Health Leadership and Management

Entry requirements

  • Diploma or degree in a health related profession with a minimum of two years working experience
